Get Ready To Dance – Downtown Disco Michael Gray ‘Optimism’ Album Launch Party on May 26th

We’re back with our second party of the year, and it’s a biggie. Our international resident DJ Michael Gray is hosting his album launch party at our Downtown Disco party on May 26th, including a live PA from Incognito vocalist Kelli Sae.

Michael Gray has been part of the Downtown Disco family since he first played with us – and let’s be honest, there can’t be many disco parties that have a Grammy-nominated DJ and producer as one of their residents.  

So we’re delighted to team up with Michael Gray to celebrate the release of his latest album, Optimism, after nearly two years in production. 

Michael will be playing cuts from his new album, including exclusive edits and remixes – and he’ll be joined by one of the album’s vocalists Kelli Sae. As well as being the lead singer of Incognito, Kelli has sung alongside such greats as Tina Turner and Lionel Richie and will be flying over from NYC to perform live on the night. 

Michael reveals a bit more about what’s in store… 

‘Kelli will be singing some album tracks, and also be singing some songs I have made with her previously that are not on the album, such as ‘You’re Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else’, (Glitterbox records) ‘Good Love’ (Reel People Records) and Downtown favourite ‘MacArthur Park’ (Sultra). 

To mark this huge night for Downtown Disco and Michael Gray, we’ll be starting the party even earlier –  at 8 pm on Sunday, May 26th, at our new home, HiFi Club, in the heart of Leeds’ city centre. With it being a Bank Holiday Monday the following day, you’ll be able to make the most of this long weekend with Downtown Disco.

Alongside our headliner Michael Gray, we have a stellar cast of disco DJs. 

Previous Downtown Disco guest Fingerman returns after smashing his last set for us back in 2019. The Hot Digits main man is a master of working the dancefloor, able to work in the latest disco cuts with his tried-and-tested treasure trove of Fingerman edits, creating a proper party atmosphere on the dancefloor. Check out this incredible mixtape he made for us the last time he played. 

And, of course, no Downtown Disco event is complete without founder Ian Ossia and resident DJ Lisa Jane. 

Lisa Jane is one of the best residents in the UK, let alone Leeds. Not only does she bring a seamless blend of box-fresh disco and edits to every set, but with her infectious smile and energy, she gets the party started from the DJ booth in every set.
